Syed Fahd Husain

Fahd Husain is the Executive Director News at Express News TV & Executive Editor of Daily The Express Tribune. He began his career as a journalist at The Daily Muslim newspaper in 1991. Since then he has since held senior positions at The Nation and Gulf News Dubai newspapers and served as the Editor of Daily The News. In the 1990s, Fahd worked at PTV as an anchor for several shows. He has also worked at leading American TV channel CBS News in New York. Fahd was also the anchor of Pakistan’s first independent English talk show on Geo TV. He then worked as Director International Affairs at ARY TV.

Starting in 2006, as Director News he designed the entire setup for Express News channel, and established the channel as a leading news network. He also served as Director News of Express 24/7, which was at one point Pakistan’s only 24-hour English news network. Later he also served as Executive Director News at Dunya TV and Chief Operating Officer at Capital TV.

Fahd has spearheaded the launch of three channels in Pakistan: Express News, Express English, and Capital TV. 

He has also served as Editor of major English newspapers: The Nation, The News and Executive Editor of The Express Tribune.

He has also hosted prime time talk shows on Express News, ARY, and Waqt News.

His international assignments include covering the US Presidential Elections in 2004 and travelling to Lebanon to cover the Hezbollah-Israel war in 2006.

Fahd did his schooling from Aitchison College Lahore, and his Bachelor’s degree from Ohio Wesleyan University USA. He did his Masters in Television Journalism from Columbia University in New York, USA, where he became the first Pakistani to graduate at the top of his class. He was also elected president of his class, and awarded both the Pulitzer Travelling Fellowship and the Jack R. Howard Scholarship.

He lectures on Media and Politics at various institutions including Navy War College, Command & Staff College Quetta, Pakistan Air Force War College Karachi, National Management College (for senior Civil Services officer), Civil Service Academy as well as various universities and colleges.

Fahd serves on the Advisory Board of IBA’s Centre for Excellence in Journalism (CEJ) and is a member of the Board of Governors of Aitchison College Lahore. 



Hammad Husain

Hammad Husain has been practicing architecture in Islamabad since 1994 and has been associated with academia for over ten years. He has served as Head of the Architecture & Design department at Comsats University and has taught at National College of Arts, Rawalpindi campus; SZABIST Islamabad and University of Engineering & Technology, Abbottabad campus. He is the principal architect of Hammad Husain Architects and managing partner at Aleph Architectural Group Practice.

Hammad completed his undergraduate studies in Architecture from Middle East Technical University (METU) in Turkey in 1994, and got his Masters degree in Project Management from Pakistan. He has designed over one million square feet of commercial space and half a million square feet of residential buildings including over 80 private houses & farmhouses all over Pakistan. His notable projects include the farmhouse of former President of Pakistan Pervez Musharraf in Islamabad (2005), the Presidency building of Azad Jammu & Kashmir in Muzaffarabad (2012) and restoration of Fort Bala Hisar in Peshawar (2016). His work and interviews have been published in a number of local and international publications.

Hammad spent five months in Japan in 2003 on a Japanese Government fellowship where he briefly worked for Nikken Sekkei, the largest architecture firm in the world. He has the distinction of being the first regular architecture columnist of Pakistan and was Islamabad correspondent for Archi Times from 1999 to 2004. He contributed a chapter on the architecture of Pakistan in the book ‘Atlas: Architectures of the 21st Century’, published in Spain. He was one of the editors of a research study in Geneva, Switzerland, commissioned by Aga Khan Trust for Culture, titled ‘Architectural Education in the Muslim World’. He has served as a juror, panelist, thesis advisor and guest lecturer at several architecture schools of the country; has presented papers at national and international conferences (UIA 2005, Istanbul, ICHH 2008, Mumbai) and is the first TEDx Speaker architect of Pakistan. He has twice served as chairman of the Institute of Architects, Pakistan and is a recipient of the institute’s awards for excellence (1998 & 2010). He has also served as elected member executive committee of Pakistan Council of Architects & Town Planners (2000-2004) and is co-founder and convener of League of Architects Pakistan.


Ahmed Mumtaz Mustehsan

Ahmed Mumtaz Mustehsan is a scientist and an academician with more than thirty-five (35) years’ experience in IT Research & Development and imparting and managing quality university education in Pakistan. He completed his Masters in Computer Science from Quaid-i-Azam University. Islamabad in 1981. In 1986, he joined SEP in Paris, France where he specialized in Satellite Image Processing.

He has the privilege of establishing two national-level institutions. The Computer Training Center (CTC) in 1983 at Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC), and the Center of Basic Sciences (COBS) for the University Grants Commission in Islamabad. The CTC went on to produce a number of national level academicians, scientists and engineers.

From 1983 to 1985, he worked as System Manager for Jaffarana (Pvt.) Ltd,  a company of McGill University, Canada, and developed cryptographic software for the defense agencies of Pakistan under the supervision of professors Dr. Salahuddin Hyder and Dr. Murray of McGill University, Canada.

In 1986, he joined Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO). In 1988 he was tasked to establish the Satellite Ground Station (SGS) for SUPARCO and successfully operated the station for more than ten years as its Manager.

In 1999 he joined University of Lahore (UoL) and served for five years as associate professor, before joining COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT), where he served as Head, Department of Computer Science. He has supervised hundreds of research projects of Computer Science students.

In 2007, he was appointed General Manager IT at COMSATS where he established the complete IT infrastructure of CIIT, Main Campus in Islamabad. In 2010, he presented a concept paper for establishment of a virtual campus by a university at an education conference at Dhaka, Bangladesh. That paper served the basis for establishing the Virtual Campus of COMSATS.

In 2015, he became the Additional Registrar Academics at COMSATS, Islamabad Campus, where he supervised the development and documentation of the process for student registration, delivery of quality education and fool-proof evaluation system. In addition, he established the Student Affairs Department, Carrier Development Cell and Automated Admissions system at COMSATS. In January 2018, he was promoted as General Manager (Academics) in OG-4, a rank equivalent to a Full Professor.

He has joined Republic University College as Registrar.

Dr. Usama Bukhari

Dr. Usama Bukhari has over 15 years of experience in both academia and industry. In 2003, he started his career in IT industry where he worked in a number of national and international companies. In 2006, he joined COMSATS University Islamabad. He subsequently served in The University of Lahore and Center for Advance Studies in Engineering (CASE). In 2010, he established his own software house. As CEO, he supervised over 20 national level projects for the governments of KPK, Sindh and Azad Kashmir and for the Pakistan Army. He has also worked on various projects for international companies such as LG, Telecom Italia and Continental AG.

He received his under graduate degree in Computer Science from Hamdard University, MSc in Machine learning from COMSATS University Islamabad and PhD in Computer Vision from ULBS, Romania. He acquired various scholarships, laurels and achievement awards throughout his academic studies. He is an ERAMSUS scholar and was funded by European Union for his doctoral thesis.

Group Capt Shahbaz Ali, SI (M) (Retd)

Group Captain Shahbaz Ali (Retd) holds three master’s degrees, namely, in Project Management, Business Management and Strategic Studies from SZABIST, Punjab and Air Universities respectively, besides a bachelor’s degree in War Studies from Karachi University.

He is a graduate of PAF Combat Commanders School, Air Staff College and fellow of PAF Air War College, Japan Self Defence Force (JSDF) Air Staff College and JSDF Joint Staff College.

During his service in PAF which spreads over three decades, he has held various instructional command & staff appointments. He has served as Deputy Director ‘Plans’ and as Director ‘Policy’ at Air Headquarters Islamabad and distinctively commanded three PAF Units and a Base. He carries a vast and varied experience of air force weapon systems ‘Acquisition & Induction Management’. He has undergone multiple training courses in Pakistan and abroad and worked as Chief Instructor at PAF Air Defence Training School.

In recognition, he has been awarded Sitara-e- Imtiaz (Military), Professional Excellence Badge and Commendations from Chief of the Air Staff and a Certificate of Excellence from JSDF. After retirement, he worked with ‘Hashoo Group’ a renowned name in Hospitality Management (Brands-PC, Marriott, Hotel One) as General Manager Operations.


Gulten Cevikel

Gulten Cevikel completed her bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media and Public Relations from Gazi University, Turkey in 1993. She worked at IKA News agency in liaison with the Turkish Prime Minister’s office and at Yatirimler Magazine in Ankara as Public Relations Manager. Later, she served as the Pakistan correspondent for State-run Turkish Anatolian News Agency (Anadolu Ajansi).


Kashif Bhatti

Kashif Bhatti got his bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from Near East University, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in 1997. He is a managing partner at Hi-Tec Services, a leading engineering consultancy firm of Islamabad. He has extensive experience in engineering and construction.

Azar Raza Khan

Azar Raza completed his bachelors degree in Architecture from National College of Arts, Lahore in 2001. He is principal architect of Azar Raza Architects, a successful Islamabad-based practice, and managing partner at Aleph Architectural Group Practice. He taught at National College of Arts, Rawalpindi campus for five years and has been a regular thesis advisor and juror at several architecture schools of the region.

He is co-founder of League of Architects Pakistan (LEAP) and has served as Honorary Treasurer of Institute of Architects Pakistan (IAP), Rawalpindi-Islamabad chapter.

Naeem Asghar

Naeem Asghar is a well-known figure among the media industry and is known for his dedication, passion and integrity. He is not only a journalist by profession but also a journalist by heart. His inquisitive nature led him to pursue journalism as a career. He holds an MSc. Journalism degree and actively engages in lectures and workshops to transfer the knowledge he has obtained through his academic career and through his field/ industry experience. His teaching methods are hands-on and focus on practical applications of theoretical knowledge.


Maryam Hashmi

Senior Lecturer

Maryam Hashmi has been independently practicing architecture and interior design since 2014 after graduating from Department of Architecture, Comsats University, Islamabad. Prior to that Maryam did a diploma in Interior Design and in her practice as an architect, merged the two together in her commercial and residential projects. Being an avid reader of history, especially cultural and architectural history of different regions, her designs are inspired and influenced by bygone references. Her interest in history and architecture lead to a collaborative publication as a co-author titled Influence of Buddhism and Greek philosophy on Modern Architecture which gave an insight into how subconsciously the historic influences have been deeply imbedded into modern architecture and other disciplines.

Other than the philanthropic work by Maryam after the 2008 earthquake and the 2010 floods in Nowshera, she has been a student representative for Institute of Architects Pakistan on several occasions and ran an informal virtual campaign on the importance of national anthem of Pakistan.

She is a member of League of Architects Pakistan.

Before joining republic University College as Senior Lecturer she was working as an architectural and interior design consultant in Islamabad.


Maham Ithar

Maham Ithar acquired her bachelors degree of Architecture from Comsats Institute of Information Technology, Islamabad in year 2015. After completing her bachelors, she worked at M/S ACES as a junior Architect. In 2017 she got her Masters degree in Urban Design from The University of Sheffield, where she was working as a student and faculty representative.University of Sheffield belongs to the Russell Group i.e the leading universities of UK. She was working for Fawad suhail associates before joining Republic University College.


Ramsha Saleem

Senior Lecturer

Ramsha Saleem has a versatile professional experience in the field of research and business development. After graduating in Defence and Diplomatic studies, she started working with Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI) as a researcher. Later on, she got her M.Phil degree in International Relations from SZABIST, Karachi, in 2016. Subsequently, her interests drove her to join Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretariat in Lahore as a Research Associate, where she worked on different research projects and developed the Daily News Report.

Before joining Republic University, she was working as a Relationship Manager at Faysal Bank Limited where she gained experience in Business Development.

Her research interests range from theory to research design to implementation.

Danial Kazmi

Danial Kazmi enjoys a well decorated educational career. His alma- mater is one of Australia’s leading business school; QUT Business School. Having graduated with distinction in BBA (Hon.) degree majoring in Human Resource Management, in recognition of his consistent high performance in educational career and extracurricular achievements, he was awarded with the prestigious Triple Crown Scholarship by Queensland University of Technology, Australia for the program of Master of Business – Human Resource Management where he later travelled for higher education. He completed his Master of Business- HRM degree In recognition of his achievements during his stay in Australia, he was awarded with QUT Triple Crown Scholarship, QUT College of Excellence membership followed by induction in QUT’s Honorary Dean’s list for 2016, QUT Debating Society, QUT CEO and member of QUT Student Guild and Lord Mayor’s Friends of Brisbane society.

He also holds the privilege to be the first student of Pakistani origin at QUT Business School to qualify from a pool of numerous Australian and Foreign students to represent an Australian university at the prestigious Carlson School of Management International HRM Case Study Competition hosted by University of Minnesota.

He continued his high performance standards after his transition to the industry and quickly progressed to become the Head HR department in an Australian firm before joining Republic University College as Lecturer and Manager Extraordinaire. His areas of specialization are leadership development and coaching, talent management and strategic human resource management and have a diverse portfolio subsuming professional and philanthropy projects.

Fabian Bauer

Fabian Bauer went through a profound and holistic academic education in the field of Business and Management. After completing his Bachelor´s degree at the Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich, one of German´s oldest and most renowned universities in the field of Business and Management, he pursued his Master´s degree in Strategy and Innovation Management at the Vienna University of Economics and Business. Both in his Bachelor´s and in his Master´s degree, he was granted scholarships to complement his academic education with international experience. Hence, he studied for one semester at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos in Madrid, as well as an exchange semester at the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, both being outstanding and internationally accredited institutions. For his exemplary involvement and achievement, he was awarded the merit-based scholarship of the Vienna University of Economics and Business where he was also teaching the course “Business Planning and Performance Management”.

Throughout his studies, Fabian Bauer was contracted for a wide range of short-term projects in different industries. Among others, those included the international expansion of a globally operating Fintech startup based in Sydney and London, the development of an autonomous, digital recruiter for an Austrian HR company, setting up a strategy for a portfolio brand of a large German media company, and develop a Video on Demand platform for a South African telecommunication company.

Fabian Bauer is specialized in the area of strategy development and innovation management with tremendous experience in corporate development and management consulting.

He will be lecturing and mentoring students at Republic University College virtually. Muhammad Suleman

Muhammad Suleman got his bachelors degree in Software Engineering from Foundation University in 2011 and acquired his MS in Project Management from Bahria University in 2014. He had been teaching Computer Science at Foundation University since 2016 before joining Republic University College as a Lecturer. Teaching is his passion and he has remained a popular teacher among his students.

Graduate with Bachelors in Mass Communication, before joining Republic University College, Jaffar Hussain worked for over a decade in Comsats University Islamabad as Administration Assistant in the Department of Architecture and Design.
