Hammad Husain

Hammad Husain has been practicing architecture in Islamabad since 1994 and has been associated with academia for over twelve years. He has served as Head of the Architecture & Design department at Comsats University and has taught at National College of Arts, Rawalpindi campus; SZABIST Islamabad and University of Engineering & Technology, Abbottabad campus. He is the principal architect of Hammad Husain Architects and is president of League of Architects Pakistan (LEAP).

Hammad completed his undergraduate studies in Architecture from Middle East Technical University (METU) in Turkey in 1994, and got his Masters degree in Project Management from Pakistan. He has designed over one million square feet of commercial space and half a million square feet of residential buildings including over 80 private houses & farmhouses all over Pakistan. His notable projects include the farmhouse of former President of Pakistan Pervez Musharraf in Islamabad (2005), the Presidency building of Azad Jammu & Kashmir in Muzaffarabad (2012) and restoration of Fort Bala Hisar in Peshawar (2016). His work and interviews have been published in a number of local and international publications.

Hammad spent five months in Japan in 2003 on a Japanese Government fellowship where he briefly worked for Nikken Sekkei, the largest architecture firm in the world. He has the distinction of being the first regular architecture columnist of Pakistan and was Islamabad correspondent for Archi Times from 1999 to 2004. He contributed a chapter on the architecture of Pakistan in the book ‘Atlas: Architectures of the 21st Century’, published in Spain. He was one of the editors of a research study in Geneva, Switzerland, commissioned by Aga Khan Trust for Culture, titled ‘Architectural Education in the Muslim World’. He has also served as a Technical Reviewer for Al Fozan Award for Mosque Architecture in Malaysia and Indonesia. He has served as a juror, panelist, thesis advisor and guest lecturer at several architecture schools of the country; has presented papers at national and international conferences (UIA 2005, Istanbul, ICHH 2008, Mumbai) and is the first TEDx Speaker architect of Pakistan. He has twice served as chairman of the Institute of Architects, Pakistan and is a recipient of the institute’s awards for excellence (1998 & 2010). He has also twice served as elected member executive committee of Pakistan Council of Architects & Town Planners (2000-2004).


Ahmed Mumtaz Mustehsan

Ahmed Mumtaz Mustehsan is a scientist and an academician with more than thirty-five (35) years’ experience in IT Research & Development and imparting and managing quality university education in Pakistan. He completed his Masters in Computer Science from Quaid-i-Azam University. Islamabad in 1981. In 1986, he joined SEP in Paris, France where he specialized in Satellite Image Processing.

He has the privilege of establishing two national-level institutions. The Computer Training Center (CTC) in 1983 at Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC), and the Center of Basic Sciences (COBS) for the University Grants Commission in Islamabad. The CTC went on to produce a number of national level academicians, scientists and engineers.

From 1983 to 1985, he worked as System Manager for Jaffarana (Pvt.) Ltd, a company of McGill University, Canada, and developed cryptographic software for the defense agencies of Pakistan under the supervision of professors Dr. Salahuddin Hyder and Dr. Murray of McGill University, Canada.

In 1986, he joined Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO). In 1988 he was tasked to establish the Satellite Ground Station (SGS) for SUPARCO and successfully operated the station for more than ten years as its Manager.

In 1999 he joined University of Lahore (UoL) and served for five years as associate professor, before joining Comsats University Islamabad (CUI), where he served as Head, Department of Computer Science. He has supervised hundreds of research projects of Computer Science students.

In 2007, he was appointed General Manager IT at Comsats University where he established the complete IT infrastructure of CUI, Main Campus in Islamabad. In 2010, he presented a concept paper for establishment of a virtual campus by a university at an education conference at Dhaka, Bangladesh. That paper served the basis for establishing the Virtual Campus of CUI.

In 2015, he became the Additional Registrar Academics at CUI Islamabad Campus, where he supervised the development and documentation of the process for student registration, delivery of quality education and fool-proof evaluation system. In addition, he established the Student Affairs Department, Carrier Development Cell and Automated Admissions system at CUI. In January 2018, he was promoted as General Manager (Academics) in OG-4, a rank equivalent to a Full Professor.

Dr. Usama Bukhari

Dr Salahuddin Hyder School of Computer Science

Dr. Usama Bukhari has over 15 years of experience in both academia and industry. In 2003, he started his career in IT industry where he worked in a number of national and international companies. In 2006, he joined COMSATS University Islamabad. He subsequently served in The University of Lahore and Center for Advance Studies in Engineering (CASE). In 2010, he established his own software house. As CEO, he supervised over 20 national level projects for the governments of KPK, Sindh and Azad Kashmir and for the Pakistan Army. He has also worked on various projects for international companies such as LG, Telecom Italia and Continental AG.

He received his under graduate degree in Computer Science from Hamdard University, MSc in Machine learning from COMSATS University Islamabad and PhD in Computer Vision from ULBS, Romania. He acquired various scholarships, laurels and achievement awards throughout his academic studies. He is an ERAMSUS scholar and was funded by European Union for his doctoral thesis.

Gulten Cevikel

Gulten Cevikel completed her bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media and Public Relations from Gazi University, Turkey in 1993. She worked at IKA News agency in liaison with the Turkish Prime Minister’s office and at Yatirimler Magazine in Ankara as Public Relations Manager. Later, she served as the Pakistan correspondent for State-run Turkish Anatolian News Agency (Anadolu Ajansi).

Ajay Rao

Ajay Rao is an experienced educationist, academician and a musician par excellence. He has been a mentor to thousands of students in his 30 years at St Mary’s Academy Lalazar in Rawalpindi. His students are now senior military officers, senior government officials, judges, part of top corporate management and practically all over the globe. His students consider him to be the best and the most inspirational English and communication skills teacher who brings the best out of his students. Ajay has his own music band called AJ and the Boyz. The band performed at Marriott Hotel Islamabad for 16 years and presently performs at the Islamabad Club over weekends. He has been an active sportsman and a sports instructor and has taught field sports to countless students, many of whom have gone on to win top laurels for their organisations. Ajay Rao is now part of our team and is mentoring the students of Republic and teaching them English and music to make them well-rounded individuals ready to face the real world.

Ramsha Saleem

Communications, Outreach and International Liaison

Ramsha Saleem has a versatile professional experience in the field of research and business development. After graduating in Defence and Diplomatic studies, she started working with Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI) as a researcher. Later on, she got her M.Phil degree in International Relations from SZABIST, Karachi, in 2016. Subsequently, her interests drove her to join Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretariat in Lahore as a Research Associate, where she worked on different research projects and developed the Daily News Report.

Before joining Republic College, she was working as a Relationship Manager at Faysal Bank Limited where she gained experience in Business Development.

Her research interests range from theory to research design to implementation.

Maham Ithar

Maham Ithar acquired her bachelors degree of Architecture from Comsats Institute of Information Technology, Islamabad in year 2015. After completing her bachelors, she worked at M/S ACES as a junior Architect. In 2017 she got her Masters degree in Urban Design from The University of Sheffield, where she was working as a student and faculty representative.University of Sheffield belongs to the Russell Group i.e the leading universities of UK.

Nadia Aleem Ud Din

Nadia Aleem Ud Din acquired her BS (Hons) Media Studies and MS in Media Studies from Riphah International University, Islamabad. She worked with Capital TV news channel as a producer with several senior analysts and anchorpersons such as Murtaza Solangi, Owais Tohid, Ejaz Haider and Ghulam Murtaza before joining Republic College.

She has been writing articles for several online and print newspapers including Fair Observer USA, Pakistan Today and Democracy News Live India. Her interests revolve around media myths, yellow journalism and censorship in media. Her areas of research include international news of the peripheries, mobile journalism, multimedia reporting and data journalism. She has conducted research on e-waste (Electronic waste) with Technology Times, a web channel and newspaper on technology. Currently she is doing research on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its link with communication.

Hadia Bilal

Hadia Bilal is an independent practicing Architect and an interior designer based in Islamabad since 2012. She acquired her Bachelor of Architecture degree from Punjab University, College of Art and Design, Lahore. She practiced in Lahore for three years before shifting to Islamabad in 2015. Having done various residential and commercial projects, she diversified towards public art. Her most prominent public art project is the 180 ft wide ceramic tile mosaic Mural on Utopian Dream at the Garrison Fitness Club, Kohat. She was also a part of Gachrang Institute & participated in the National Monument of Pakistan project in 2006-7.

Her designs are mostly inspired by nature with contrast of hi-tech elements. Her empathy for the less privileged leads to her honorary membership in an NGO named Munis which worksfor special people.

Ayesha Hassan

Ayesha Hassan is a visual artist and an illustrator. She graduated from NCA Rawalpindi, in 2013, as a miniature major, with distinction. Her work revolves around building narratives, old and new. She works with various mediums with extraordinary attention to detail. Her work has been exhibited internationally.
Ayesha has been teaching creative arts as a visiting faculty in various institutes in the twin cities. Her method of instruction is very hands-on and intuitive.
She also works as a creative consultant for multiple advertising agencies. She has been involved in this area for a few years, working for major brands and on government projects.

Ayesha Qayyum

Ayesha Qayyum Toor is an academician. She is M.PHIL in Mass Communication and started her career as a senior lecturer from National University of Modern Languages Islamabad. Later on she joined Hamdard University. She is an expert in Research methodology, communication strategies and social media management. She has travelled extensively to South East Asia and United States of America. Currently she is working in Republic University as a senior lecturer.

Ammad Khaliq

Ammad Khaliq is currently working as multimedia and broadcast World Service. Previously, he served as senior producer current affairs in Dawn News TV & Public News TV. His journalism career brings a rich experience as a professional journalist for over 12 years. He has also worked for development sector and as a journalist, worked for English press including “The post”,before moving to broadcast media where he held editorial positions at express news, Dunya TV, Capital TV, Dawn News and later, at Public News TV. He holds an Mphil degree in communication studies from Punjab university Lahore, besides a certification of Film and TV from National College of Arts (NCA), Lahore. He is also a certified trainer and conducts trainings on mass media, radio journalism, development support communication, media engagement and social media tools & utilizations and media ethics.

Azar Raza Khan

Azar Raza completed his bachelors degree in Architecture from National College of Arts, Lahore in 2001. He is principal architect of Azar Raza Architects, a successful Islamabad-based practice, and managing partner at Aleph Architectural Group Practice. He taught at National College of Arts, Rawalpindi campus for five years and has been a regular thesis advisor and juror at several architecture schools of the region.

He is co-founder of League of Architects Pakistan (LEAP) and has served as Honorary Treasurer of Institute of Architects Pakistan (IAP), Rawalpindi-Islamabad chapter. He is currently an elected member of Pakistan Council of Architects & Town Planners (PCATP).

Sarmed is Senior Vice President (SVP) and Regional Business Head (Retail Banking Group) at Bank AlFalah Ltd, Islamabad. He received his Masters in Business Administration (MBA) degree from University of Arkansas at Little Rock in USA in 2001 with Concentration in Finance and MIS (Double Majors) and Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Economics from Middle East Technical University, Turkey in 1997.

He has worked at Standard Chartered Bank, Islamabad as Regional Head Distribution North (Consumer Bank) and JS Bank Limited (Formerly American Express Bank) as Senior Vice President and Regional Head North-1. He has also worked at Faysal Bank Limited as Resident Vice President and Branch / Cluster Manager and at Institute of Economic Advancement, Arkansas, USA as Research Assistant in Economic Forecasting and Financial Analysis

Pervaiz Akhtar

Pervaiz Akhtar is President of German Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Islamabad region He has been heading METRO Cash & Carry’s Corporate Affairs since 2007. Being part of the senior management team, he has contributed towards successfully establishing the METRO Cash & Carry’s business in Pakistan. Prior to joining METRO, he served as General Manager Corporate Affairs for a Dutch Multinational Company (SHV Energy) for over 9 years. Mr Akhtar has a versatile experience of more than 30 years of working with local and multinational companies in Pakistan. During this period, he served in senior management positions in the field of Finance, Human Resources, Procurement and Corporate Affairs.

He is Director of German Pakistan Trade & Investment Ltd and a member of chambers of commerce and industry of Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and Faisalabad.

Pervaiz graduated in 1976 from University of Punjab with majors in Economics. He later attended an MBA program at School of Business and Commerce Islamabad and secured distinction in Business Policy & Strategy and Human Resource Management. He completed his professional training with Klynveld Peat Marwick Goerdeler (KPMG) and passed Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (Inter) examination in 1981. In 1989 Mr. Akhtar was awarded a USAID scholarship and he completed Petroleum Management Program at Arthur D. Little Inc Boston, U.S.A.

Mustafa Siddiqui

Mustafa Siddiqui is an Oil and Gas professional with extensive experience in the upstream oil and gas industry across various regions in Africa, Asia, Americas, Europe and the Middle East. He has worked for Royal Dutch Shell since 2004. He worked at the Shell head quarters in The Netherlands where he was responsible for providing evaluations for new business development opportunities. He worked in Canada in Egypt leading well engineering teams responsible for delivering top oil and gas development projects.

Prior to that he worked for Schlumberger as a petroleum engineer in Pakistan and USA. He was a Research Associate at the Texas A&M University in USA.

Mustafa Siddiqui has an MBA from University of Chicago Booth School of Business and an MS in Petroleum Engineering with a minor in Management from Texas A & M University. He competed his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Middle East Technical University in Turkey.

Afshan Arshad

After completing her MSc in Mathematics, Afshan Arshad started her career from Scholars Cantt Group of Colleges as a Lecturer. Within a short span of 7 years she was promoted to the rank of Director Human Resource. She then offered her services to Rawalpindi Cantt College of Commerce as Vice Principal for a period of 3 years. Over a stretch of 10 years she has gained invaluable experience in teaching and management of Academics.

Before joining Republic College as Head of Academics, Afshan Arshad was working for Army Public School and College, Rawat, as a lecturer of Mathematics.

Asma Farid Khan

Asma Farid Khan has vast experience in teaching multiple subjects, both in English and Urdu. She has been teaching in renowned educational institutions. She has been awarded best teacher award on a regular basis. She is Hafiz e Quran and Islamyat is one of her areas of expertise. She has vast knowledge of the religion of Islam and is well-versed in translation of the Holy Quran. She is an avid book reader, especially literature, which makes her a preferred teacher in both Urdu and English. She has also worked as head of examination in many educational institutions.

Mustafeez Khan

Mustafeez completed early and secondary education from Wah Cantt. He got his bachelor’s degree from Iqra university Islamabad Campus in Social Sciences. He acquired his Master’s degree in Development Studies from SZABIST where he was elected as Department representative in first student council. He is currently enrolled in Bachelor’s Legislative Law programme.

Worked in capacity of Teacher Assistant to HOD department of languages.
He started career as a research coordinator in a UN funded NGO working on cyber crime, women empowerment and microfinance.
He remained as an intern in Tele News Broadcast Media in PCR (Production Control Room), and later  Capital TV as bureau coordinator. He later got a government job in Punjab Metro Bus Operations Head-office as an inspection Officer but later quit to pursue career in Academics and choose it as field of professional excellence.

He joined Roots International Schools as country manager Local qualifications DQCA (Department of Curriculum & Assessments). Thereafter he joined Concordia College, DHA campus as Administration Officer and Admission Advisor.

In August 2019, Mustafeez joined Republic College as Controller of Examinations for HSSC Programme. He is also teaching Intermediate level of Civics and subjects of Fine Arts.

Muhammad Ali

Muhammad Ali is a practicing academician with over eight years of experience in academia & IT industry. After completing his masters  degree in software engineering from UET , Taxila he earned his experience in the field of information technology and software development by working as a software developer. He enjoys a diverse experience of an IT practitioner and being an academician in various reputable organizations. He devoted his time and energy for establishment of computer science department at Pre-Cadet high school, as head of department. Muhammad Ali then rendered his  services in APSAUS as IT coordinator and senior lecturer. After 2016, he had the privilege to serve as FBISE examiner each year. Before joining Republic College as senior lecturer computer science, Muhammad Ali was the head of department of computer science at Roots International School and College. He is currently pursuing his M.Phil in information security from NUST, Islamabad.

Junaid Abbasi

Junaid Ahmed Abbasi is a talented budding economist with an MPhil in Economics from PMAS Arid Agricultural University Rawalpindi.  He comparatively analyzed the horizontal income inequalities prevalent between Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It wasn’t until four years earlier that he discovered his ultimate passion in teaching the youth and lending his qualities into them. From there on he started his journey teaching at undergraduate level in reputed institutes of twin cities. He firmly believes in the power of youth capital and looks forward to investing his hard work in capacity building specifically on the frontiers of Economics and Commerce.
His area of interest is Economics, Commerce and Statistics.

Mubashir Rehan

Mubashir Rehan graduated from Army Public College of Management and Sciences (Affiliated with UET, TAXILA) in BE Electrical (Electronics) Engineering. Currently he is doing MS in Electronic System Design from UET TAXILA.He has served in Springfield Public School and College as physics teacher from (March,2019 to July,2019).He has also served in The Eden Hall School and College as Physics teacher from (Dec,2014 to Feb,2019).

Ahsan Murtaza

Ahsan Murtaza completed his M.Phil/Ms in Management from Federal Urdu university Islamabad. Before joining the Republic  College, Mr. Ahsan Murtaza has been associated with a number of private sector colleges including Dr. AQ Khan College of Science and Information Technologies as a permanent as well as visiting lecturer. Moreover, he has also served Saif Group of Companies and Khalid Majid Rehman Chartered Accountants which adds more to his exposure and experience.

Anum Sultana

Anum Sultana completed her M.Sc in Sociology from Quaid-iAzam University in 2016. She joined Grafton College, Islamabad where she taught undergraduate students. She then shifted to Roots International School, Islamabad where she taught Pakistan Studies and Islamiyat to Intermediate students for three years before joining Republic College.

Hurmat-ul-Aeyn is an architect, graphic designer and a creative artist. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Comsats University, Islamabad.

She finished her degree with top position in her batch and a Gold Medal. She has completed a 16-week course titled “A Global History of Architecture” from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA.

During the course of her bachelor’s degree, she participated in several competitions, including Red Bull Doodle Art Competition titled “Where does the mind take you?” and “Auroville Green Practices”. She won first prize in “Pleat Competition” organised by Institute of Architects Pakistan.

Her interest include theory and physical expression of creativity found in human societies and cultures. She is an innovative visual artist; her expertise includes drawing, painting, filmmaking, photography and sculpture. She appreciates creating and actualizing new thoughts and strategies and is eager to push creativity’s limits through bold experimentations.

Hurmat attended an international architectural conference”NASA-57″ in India in 2015 and anchored the 2019 Thesis Show at Comsats University. She is a member of League of Architects Pakistan. She has joined Republic College as lecturer FA Fine Arts and Admissions counsellor.

Zarmina Iram

Ms. Zarmina Irum has been teaching for five years.  She graduated from Fatima Jinnah Women University Rawalpindi with BS(Hnr) in Environmental Science. Currently she is doing MS in Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Science. She has teaching experience on primary, secondary and college level. She worked as biology lecturer and class teacher in Step College for boys, Rawalpindi for 5 years before joining the Republic College, Islamabad. She has a strong background in research and did many research projects. Worked as leading member in many research projects like “Physico-chemical analysis of drinking water quality of selected points of Gulshan Colony, Taxila’’ at Ecotoxicological Research Institute. Did research on “Diagnosis and Management of Pre and Post-Harvest Diseases and Pests of Mango in Orchards of Punjab and Sindh, Pakistan” under NSLP ENDOWMENT FUND.

Qurrat-ul-Ain completed her M.Sc in Chemistry from University of Wah, Wah Cant. Before joining Republic College, She worked in cadet college kallar kahar as a Lecturer in Chemistry. She also taught undergraduate and intermediate students in Chenab Group of Colleges, Chakwal.

Jaffar Hussain

Jaffar Hussain is a versatile, dedicated and success driven professional. His go-getting attitude helps his line managers perform and achieve the set targets efficiently. At Republic University College, he not only supervises the lower managerial and operational staff but also utilizes his decade-long student dealing experience to guide our students in the best direction and provide them with relevant information and counsel.

Graduate with Bachelors in Mass Communication, before joining Republic University College, Jaffar Hussain worked for over a decade in Comsats University Islamabad as Administration Assistant in the Department of Architecture and Design.

Junaid Memon

Having established his own business at an early age, Junaid enjoys unique skill set of having contemporary computer science knowledge acquired with graduation in BSc Computer Science field, blended with entrepreneurial experience. His practical and industry-oriented approach helps students gain the much-needed industry insight in the discipline of Computer Science.
